I'm from Canada, I want to build a budget pc and use my older parts as much as I can. My total budget would be 800-900$.

I currently have :

Thermaltake Tr2-430W (power supply)
EVGA GT430 1GB DDR3
Asus M3N78-VM (motherboard)
Crucial 2GB DDR2 (Ram)
AMD Phenom 8750 triple core
Samsung HDD 1TB
Philips DVD/CD player

I want to build a good machine with decent gaming output (Civ5, Lotro, Serious Sam3, Casltevania Los2, Sose) on high settings. I also plan on playing futur games, so graphic wise, I'm aiming for the best I could afford.

I'm considering keeping my old tower, monitor, Cd player, mouse, keyboard, hard drive and maybe my power supply, if it has enough power to supply my new build.

Here is the prospect of my new build:

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/olay/saved/3RNk

I intend to use bot HDD and SSD together for the increased performance of the SSD. But if the money could be spent on better hardware I can use only my HDD without any problem.

I want to know what do you think of my build, which power supply would you recommend me and if you have any suggestions for better parts than those listed on my prospect, considering that I will spend maximum 900$ on the whole setup.

I based my build on the information I gathered from this website (8 hours worth of time). I'm sure I could find my answer if I search long enough, but considering my modest knowledge in computers, I figured out that asking your advice directly with what I managed to gather would be wiser.

Cheers to all the pc enthusiast around the globe!

... and pardon my english, I'm french.

Olay

I changed some components in my build. I dropped the SSD for extra graphics, here's the new setup:

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/olay/saved/3Sjj

CPU: Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($214.00 @ Vuugo)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($32.50 @ DirectCanada)
Motherboard: Asus H87-PLUS ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($109.99 @ Memory Express)
Memory: G.Skill Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($89.98 @ NCIX)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 760 2GB Video Card ($289.99 @ NCIX)
Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($74.99 @ Canada Computers)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8 (OEM) (64-bit) ($89.88 @ Canada Computers)
Total: $901.33

Is 600W good enough?

I'm not sure whether to choose between those two RAM stick:
http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f312800cl... or http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-memory-cmz8gx3m...

Which one would you recommend the most?

Also, is it worth getting the 212 EVO for quietness?

Finally, about modular PSU, are they worth paying the little extra? (I edited my last post not to ask the same question twice, sorry for the inconvenient)

Don't get the CX600 , get the XFX I linked above.

If you want better cable management , then go for modular.

I own this full modular made by Seasonic.

Glad to help.

The CX600 is very cheaply built and has poor capacitors.

OK. I red some reviews on the XFX and most says that it's got a good reputation. I will get this one for my build. About RAM, do you have any suggestions?

In case you're interested, here's my final decision :

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/olay/saved/3Sjj

I'm low budget, and taxes in Canada are a drag... so I decided drop the GPU to get good CPU, MOBO and PSU so I could keep the base setup for a while.

With that, I'll be at least able to play Doom 2 with good FPS on a 1080 ;)
