Hi,

I apologize if this has been asked before but I am upgrading to a new SSD. This is on the same motherboard etc setup. I will be fresh installing Windows 7 64 bit.

Would it be faster to just download Service Pack 1 and try and install that or do I need previous updates before that?

Is there a way to have Windows auto install updates without manual restarts? Originally Windows 7 was installed in 2010 and I expect a large amount of updates.

Also will I have any trouble re-activating Office 2010 on the new SSD. I didn't when I had to transfer to a new build.

Thanks,

John

Just let "Windows Update" do its thing. Service pack 1 is one of the first updates it will download and install.
I recently re-installed Win 7 64 bit Pro. There were about 200 updates if I remember correctly. It took a while, so make a big pot of coffee and pull up a comfy chair. Although the SSD should speed things up.

Then I was able to use the original disks to re-install Office and all of my other applications, and their updates. There was no problem using the original disk and activation key to re-install.
