no cpu heat paste left on cpu? need a household alturive

basically I need a cpu heat paste that is available in any home :/ as I have no paste on my cpu I was wondering if anyone knew of anything as im 100km out of the nearest town and cant get more paste here or if I can take the motherboard and cpu out of an old Dell OptiPlex 755 and put it in my gaming case and hook it up to my 1600watt psu and my gtx 650

1. Paste - Some have tested toothpaste as an alternative. It works. But only for a little while (1 day). It quickly dries out.

2. moving parts around - no, that will almost certainly not work.

You need to get thermal paste, I wouldn't recommend trying household remedies. You will just end up postponing an inevitable demise of your CPU. Get some Arctic Silver 5 or some IC Diamond.

can I swap the cpu and mobo and all other parts from another lesser pc into mine and use those parts with my gpu and psu? the specs are the same as the slim line OptiPlex 755 from dell made I think around 2006 it has a pci express port x16 I really need an answer to this part I wanna know if I can just stick my gtx 650 into the pci slot and use it

Maybe, maybe not. You'd have to list all the parts in both systems, and which ones you are looking to swap around.

And you'll have to redo the whole software stack.
