    1. Paste - Some have tested toothpaste as an alternative. It works. But only for a little while (1 day). It quickly dries out.

Amazon, and you could have the actual stuff tomorrow.

    2. moving parts around - no, that will almost certainly not work.
  2. You need to get thermal paste, I wouldn't recommend trying household remedies. You will just end up postponing an inevitable demise of your CPU. Get some Arctic Silver 5 or some IC Diamond.
  3. Oh, and if you try the toothpaste...neither I nor Tom's Hardware Guide cannot and will not be held accountable if you cook something.

    Just a disclaimer...
  4. can I swap the cpu and mobo and all other parts from another lesser pc into mine and use those parts with my gpu and psu? the specs are the same as the slim line OptiPlex 755 from dell made I think around 2006 it has a pci express port x16 I really need an answer to this part I wanna know if I can just stick my gtx 650 into the pci slot and use it
  5. Maybe, maybe not. You'd have to list all the parts in both systems, and which ones you are looking to swap around.

And you'll have to redo the whole software stack.
  6. software stack is backed up already
