I'm having an issue with my brand new computer, it has an Asus H81M-E and for some reason I can't seem to get the onboard NIC card to work. I don't know if one comes with this mobo but im pretty sure it does, but no matter what I do, no matter what drivers I install from the CD that it came with, nothing changed. This is really frustrating and want this issue resolved please! Bought computer from Digital Storm if that helps any. Thanks!

Go to control panel, device manager, network adapters and on a top right corner look for on/off icon
If it's disabled, turn it on

just so we're clear, you're not trying to connect wirelessly, are you? that motherboard doesn't come with a built in wireless adapter.

otherwise, have you tried downloading the up to date LAN driver instead from Asus?

I figured it didnt come with a wireless adapter, which is depressing, any suggestions for one though?

well, if you're not experiencing any problems with that Netgear USB adapter, that. otherwise, getting one with an antenna is recommended. the more the antennas (antennae?), the better, i hear. i'd stick to usb over pci/pcie. at least that's easier to troubleshoot. as for brand, i really don't see a difference considering they all costs near the same.

if you want slightly better speeds & consistency, nothing beats a wired connection.

Did you try updating the drivers?
