Ok so I'm a complete noob at this and have no experience whatsoever so bear with me. I feel like I have done a fair amount of research and have narrowed down my list to four AMD CPUs.

760K Richland
A8-5600K Trinity
FX-4300 Vishera
A10-5800K Trinity

I will be using my computer mainly for YouTube and video watching. Lots of it. I also would like like to run the mid-high end games on low-mid levels pretty smooth. Maybe a bit of software compiling if that has any effect.

Any advice that you have would be greatly appreciated. If you have any suggestions for other CPUs please tell me. Also if you have any ideas for compatible motherboards or graphics cards that would be awesome. Oh and the CPUs have to stay in the $100 price range

If you pick an APU (The A8 or the A10), you won't need a videocard. If you get the FX-4300 or 760k Richland, you will need a GPU to get any gaming performance (they can probably play videos on their own still). The A10 is best if you don't want to buy a video card, the FX-4300 is best if you do.

It's best to give your overall budget and let us "build" you something.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I will be buying a graphics card regardless if the processor has an integrated graphics card or not. Keep in mind I'm not opposed to an Intel CPU

well, if you have enough money go with the fx 4300 and get a graphics card, probly 6770 or higher, with 4gb ddr3 ram should watch youtube fine at 1080p and play most games high settings

Then definitely get the FX-4300. It will get you the best performance of the four. If you have a little extra money, I think it would be worth the money to upgrade to an FX-4170 (can't seem to find a price right now, but it's usually around $125)

The FX4170 is a downgrade from the FX4300

FX8350 Bulldozer. Best bang for your buck right there.

I just upgraded from the FX 4300 to the FX 6350. I am glad I did.
Check out Newegg's deal. $130 for the chip, free 2 day shipping, and a game download. Ordered it on Sunday, got it tonight, using it to write this...

The FX4170 is like 3% faster despite being clocked 10% faster. A modest overclock of the 4300 would put it ahead of the 4170. Overclock them both to the max and the 4300 would be a lot better.

The FX6300 is the best value in the $110-130 price range

My budget is like 500-700 for the whole build 800 max but that is including the monitor and other stuff like that
