Bad ram slot?

I have 2 ram slot. One is occupied by 2gb the other one is free. When I take the 2gb and plug it in the other slot the [c wont boot. Only black screen. No post nothing. No beep. So its it thew ram slot which is faulty or my ram slot is good? Because today i am going to add another 2gb more

sounds like a bad ram slot, from what you said it defiantly sounds bad. You should be able to boot with the ram in any slot, if it doesn't work in one but the other, it isn't the ram but the slot.

I wouldn't, it is almost impossible to user repair something like that and extremely hard to find what is wrong. If it is still under warranty you may have to return it.

Depends on the mobo, it may well simply be that the sticks works in the primary slot as the second doesn't even pick up unless the prime is filled, get another stick and just try w/ 2 sticks
