Hello,

I've been looking to purchase a PC for awhile now. I am looking to use it with a 2550x1440 display.

The 2 things I'm trying to accomplish here are:
1. Play next gen games on (hopefully) maxed setting for the upcoming years.
2. Provide an extremely smooth workflow with programs such as Photoshop, 3Ds, Zbrush, Keyshot, Vray etc.

This is what I've roughly put together:
pc.ncix.com/ncixpc_new/ncixpc_print.cfm?uuid=A324D1C5-7307-4DE1-9D74F356AB605970-5643742&skulist=81325|1-77649|1-84506|1-66354|1-91735|1-85697|1-90066|1-76369|1-87761|1-58376|1-69632|1-33602|1-33601|1-6024|1-22823|1-64541|2

My main questions would be:
1. Would this be an optimized PC for my needs? If not, what should I switch out?
2. Would 780ti provide the improvement worth it's price over 770 or 780? Would the upgrade actually improve the workflow of 3D programs?
3. I've been given the option to use a 4770, 4770k, or 4820k. Although I am not looking to OC on anything, they are all roughly the same price.
4. Which motherboard best fits my needs?

Thanks!

If you will be going to do a lot of work in photoshop, i suggest you go for an IPS 2k display. Although the gaming display is great, IPS displays usually have better colour contrast, are sometimes cheaper and are work just fine for gaming (depending on the display). There are also professional LED displays. Here is an example of probably the best one: http://www.asus.com/Monitors_Projectors/PB278Q/ This is a balance between gaming and work
For the IPS monitors, here is what i recommend: https://www.asus.com/Monitors_Projectors/PA249Q/
It is not 2K, but it has 10 bit color so it will be better for the work side.

1) It is optimized for ultra high end gaming, so i assume yes.
2) The 780ti is the fastest card at the moment and the difference is noticable (about 15% and upwards to the gtx 780). It will improve in work-related program as well.
3) If they are all roughly the same price, choose the 4770k. For the motherboard, get a cheaper asrock extreme4, which has most of the newest features that the asus z87 pro has
4) I think the new 2k monitor 144hz monitor from asus will best fit your powerful system: http://rog.asus.com/296652014/news/rog-announces-the-pg278q-swift-27-inch-wqhd-g-sync-gaming-monitor/

Hey, thanks for the help!

I'm looking into the motherboard now. Also, that is an absolutely beautiful display. In your experience though, how does hardcore gaming display holds up when it comes to image editing? I will spent most of my time pushing pixels in photoshop and I need the colors to be as best as possible. I was looking through some IPS 2k displays.

Thanks once again. PB278Q was the one I've been looking at forever. However, I was always unsure as to how it stacks up against actual IPS such as the PA249 or even PA279. Have you had experience with any of these?
