My specs:
AMD FX 8120
GTX 680
Gigabyte 670A-D3 mobo
not sure what brand of ram, but have 8gb,
and Kingspec 1TB hdd
Running Windows 8.1

I have been recently facing an issue with my pc, when i try to play games that are graphically intensive, or run programs that use a lot of processing power ( eg cpu stress tests), my computer will either lock up entirely, the program will freeze and eventually windows explorer will stop working to where i have to reboot, or i will get BSOD. I am not sure what is causing this, but it does not happen when doing progarams that use low-medium processiong power. The last time my bios was updated was 2012, and i dont really know how to go about updating it. i should add my cpu is not OC'd.

Thanks for your help

after some more testing, i think that there is still a problem. I tried running 2 programs, and both of them froze within 1 minute, and slowed down windows until i had to hard reboot. The temps were fine and i cant figure out whats going on

I ran DayZ standalone ( buggy alpha game so i thought maybe just incompatibility or something) and it froze and i had to reboot. I then ran BF4 for about 2 mins, and then the application freezes, i waited about a minute, and ctrl+alt+del and it hangs on the please wait screen, forcing me to hard reboot again. Also should note that this is the same thing that was happening before i cleaned out cpu fan etc.
