Current
GPU: radeon HD5750
CPU: i5-3570
RAM: 6gb
OS: Win7 64
MOBO: Asrock z77 extreme4
Power: 550watt 240V

I think it is time to update my GPU for the next gen. something within the 300-400AUD price range (maybe 500 depending on how much I have after new monitor)

I was thinking a GTX 760 or possibly the R9-280x.

I don't really like the idea of overclocking and I do have heat issue especially when it comes to the summer.

this is the monitor I will likely be getting and I have a budget of AUD670. I am currently using my 22in HD TV as my monitor so I might also have to get a sound bar. which means overall I might have to put of getting the monitor+sound bar until next budget

That is also the site I will be buying from unless anyone can point me to cheaper sites/deals

I'd go for the 280X, it's substantially more powerful than a GTX 760 without behaving as a space heater and it's perfect for 1080p.

Your CPU and powersupply are more than enough to handle a single card, but you will have to think about upgrading to a higher wattage powersupply if you decide down the road to Crossfire/SLI, but you won't need to for quite a while.

For years Ive used AMD GPUs and didnt have a problem with them. I recently acquired a MSI TwinFrozen 760. The XFX 7770 was giving me alot of problems with tearing, pixilation and a mild head-ack.

That system the XFX 7770 was my old build with an AMD 6200. Nothing special good for gaming. I got a decent deal with the 760 and havent looked back since - for me runs cooler, the power is about the same and the problems I did have with the 7770 are gone.

The 760s are in a great price range right now and well worth the coins spent for them. I didnt care for the 290 much at all even, they use more power, push off more heat and proformance is marginally better.

Another options is If waiting until the 780ti are released if it is within your budget. The price drop may be worth it along with a few free games.

Yeah that's what i was thinking, I considered the 760 because the 4gb version is cheaper. but that is an OC edition so I am not sure if that means it is Pre-oced and I would need cooling equipment to run it safely or not. What would you suggest for brand. http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPa... I assume the two that are sold out are likely the top picks

The Sapphire Toxic is definitely the best, but the Sapphire OC, MSI, and the Gigabyte are the best 2nd choices.

I'd probably go with the Gigabyte or MSI, there cooling is a little more substantial so you'll enjoy lower temps.

Ok one thing I am seeing. the gigabyte says the power req is 600watt. looking at the toxic through other sites seems to say the same. but ones site says it uses a 400 watt load. so I am a little confused. I assume that it is a suggestion since of course the other components use power.

Yeah that's just a suggestion, as long as you have a 550-600w power supply you should be good.
