Hi, my first post here.

I work with computers a lot, but not that knowledgeable on the hardware side.

I'm looking to build a new pc, which will be used in an office, multitasking is important. I'll be buying from UK online.

I even made some preliminary selection from Amazon.co.uk, please advise on it or anything else you might suggest better. Intel or AMD, doesn't matter. Here is the selection:

  • Intel Core i5 4670K

    Gigabyte Z87-HD3 Motherboard

Corsair Carbide Series 200R Compact ATX Computer Case

Corsair Builder Series CXM 600W Modular 80 PLUS

LiteOn IHAS124-04 24x SATA Half Height Internal DVDRW Drive

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (120mm)

    Corsair CML16GX3M2A1600C10 Vengeance Low Profile 16GB (2x8GB)

    Seagate ST4000DM000 4TB 3.5 inch Desktop HDD

It all comes at around £ 640. Any help on optimizing the configuration or suggestion another will be much appreciated. Is it possible to save a bit as well?

I already ordered a Samsung Evo 840 250gb ssd, so I don't include it in the above budget.

Its good :) The FX series of CPUs do not have integrated graphics, HOWEVER, some AM3+ motherboards do (only 2 of which i know of), which are both not very good. I suggest you get a very cheap graphics card. This will enable you to do things like video editing quicker, which you may do some time. It is also more reliable and better that onboard graphics. I have modified your build accordingly: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/2ZJYA

I suggest an AMD CPU as it has more cores, which results in better multi tasking. Also, 16GB are way more than needed, i suggest the cheapest 8GB (2 x 4 is better) kit (which is also more than enough). I you do want a CPU cooler for the processor, the evo 212 (as mentioned above in your suggestion) is great. The system will only need 430W, so a CX 430M should be a good choice. I suggest an SSD for the most frequently used programs (you will be amazed by the speed if you've never used an SSD before) and a WD hard drive as they are more reliable. For the case i chose a quiet one, as loud fans may slow down the speed at which you are working at. Here is a suggested build: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/2ZIbE

Thanks a lot for your advice and for letting me know about this wonderful pc parts configuration website.

What would you think about this slightly modified list: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/CP00/saved/3S9k ?

I have already ordered a samsung evo 840 250 gb ssd, which I'm going to use in my build. I have only one question though. Does the AMD 8320 have a video card on board? Do I have to order one separately?

My final configuration ordered as follows: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/CP00/saved/3Wry

Plus Samsung Evo 840 250gb ssd, which I have ordered before that.

I made three changes:

1. The Patriot Low Profile RAM increased in price while I was still preparing to buy, so replaced it with Viper 3 again, but standard.
2. I also replaced the WD Green 4tb with a Seagate 3tb 7200, which I believe will be more speedy (and around £ 40 cheaper).
3. Finally, I skipped for the moment Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (120mm), as it will be available not earlier than next week. I was going to ask one final question - am I OK without it with the above configuration or it is still necessary? I read somewhere that if I don't go overclocking (which I don't have current intention to do, not so knowledgeable) I most probably woulnd't need that cooler?
