VRAM doesnt adds up. Processing power does. Titan x3 sli doesnt mean that you will have 18GB Vram.
4 GB version is good for higher resolutions. 3 GB is more than enough for 1080p. 4 GB version is recommended for SLI.
With a single monitor setup like 1920x1080/1200 a single gtx 770 would suffice.
If you plan a monitor with a 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 resolution, or a multi monitor setup that's where a 2nd card could matter.
2x 770 will surely surpass the performance of a single 780ti. But, it will require a larger PSU, Noise and Heat are other considerations. Besides, a single card build...

im rarely(perhaps never) gonna be using the cd rom... is it worth it to spend money on it? also.. what do u think about the two gtx 770s 4gb each? will it be worth it instead of going for a single gtx780 and save money?

4 gb each? So a total of 8gb?Is that even necessary?
I'm also building a PC at the moment and I went for the GTX 780.

hmm... yeah i thought it may be overkill.. but i will be using this computer for at least 5 years. i might just go for 3gb gtx 780 ti to save around 100 bucks.. but i heatd that two gtx 770s evens a gtx titan.. im so confused.

Two GTX 770's do not equal a GTX Titan. GTX Titan has 6gb memory.
Im also confused.
And I'm not sure which motherboard to get.
Asus Maximus VI Formula or Extreme or MSI Z87 Mpower MAX?
Which do you suggest?
