My company has two HP XW6200, one with Windows 7 but single Xeon 3.2Ghz CPU and another with XP installed but two Xeon 3.2Ghz CPU.

I would like my Windows 7 system to have two cores, what is the easiest way for me to do this WITHOUT triggering Microsoft asking me to reactivate my license as I cannot find my volume license (it was lost by the old IT expert from my company. i.e. taking the CPU from XP pc and putting it into Windows 7 PC (I do not have any thermal paste, is this possible without it?) or to put all other components apart from the CPU and graphics card from the Windows 7 PC into the Windows XP PC?

Managed to solve this, basically I put all my original pc's components (one running on Windows 7) apart from the motherboard and cpu into the tower that already had the dual processors.

Windows asked me to reactivate it and it was painless. So I assume, it just saw the hardware change as a replacement of the motherboard since they were the exact same model.
