My RAM memory is only running at 3/8 of it's speed, should I change this?

I have downloaded speccy to see exactly what my memory is called, since the text on the component itself is not very easy to read and I was thinking of buying a second one. So I've found out that it is the Crucial Technology CT102464BA160B.M16 8Gb DDR3 PC3 12800 1600Mhz (talking about a mouth full). The thing is, Speccy states that the ram is only running at 587 MHZ, which is only about 3/8 of 1600 Mhz. I have minor BIOS experience and I will probably be able to increase this number.
Is that a good idea?

Use CPU-Z, it will tell you a lot about your memory.

Good chance your ram is actually running at 1066mhz.

To change the speed, you will need to go in to the BIOS and change the memory frequency.

your motherboard probably defaults the memory to 1066, it is double data rate (DDR) memory, double your 587 & you get about 1066.
You would probably need to OC your memory for the 1600 speed

Your memory is currently running at 1174mhz (587 x 2), which is an odd number for memory. Is your CPU overclocked using the Front Side Bus?
