I have a Win 7 machine, and have Windows XP running on it using a VM - Virtual Box. I now need to actually have a dual boot copy of Win XP added. I was planning on using EasyBCD to solve the boot loader issues.

When I try installing from a Win XP CD, it starts the install process and then fails with a blue screen showing some kind of critical internal error and a message to try again. Tried several times using other install CDs - same problem.

Solution
1. Try a different CD Drive. The one you are using may be bad.

2. Try installing Windows XP from a bootable USB Pendrive, USB Hard Drive/SSD... USB has lower chances of failed installations.

1. good idea - but about an hour ago, I installed XP from scratch into VMaware from the same DVD and drive.

2. Interesting and worth a try since - I think I have a USB-DVD inn a drawer somewhere
