Speed duplex and connectivity issues.

Hello, I am running WIndows 7 ultimate 64 bit. A 990FX R2.0 sabertooth motherboard.

I have been having problems getting a stable connection over ethernet cable; I have a Modem/Router combo issued by the ISP (Cisco EPC 3925).

It is connected over a Cat5 ethernet cable (Of which I've tried multiple).

I have a 200mb connection, wireless works perfectly.

Upon booting up the connection is not recognised, throwing an error saying invalid IP configuration. This problem is fixed upon disabling the driver for the connection and reactivating it.

However, this needs to be done every time I boot it up and after fixing it my speed duplex is fixed at 100mb. Changing this to gp/s full duplex has no effect.

Suggestions?

Apologies about the length. Figured any information would help.

I'm doing that on the PC, control panel. Not sure if it can be done on the router.
Haven't assigned a static IP or reservation in DHCP, not sure how to, honestly.

I've tried replacing drivers; so I guess I'll try the static IP in DHCP.

Normally if there is an issue in auto negotiating speed/duplex you would have to fix it at both ends. Not sure what's happening here in all honesty though. when it says invalid ip configuration try running ipconfig at command prompt to see what address it has.
