Strange problem with HDMI port

I have a Viewsonic VX2460H display. The problem is that it's not picking up signal or becoming "active"(blue led) if I try an hdmi cable other than the one provided with the display. I bought a brand new Sony 4K capable HDMI cable yesterday and it just won't work, but I get display once I switch to the viewsonic's cable.

I once gave my GPU in warranty when I was getting absolutely no display. From any of the hdmi cables. It was however was working from the VGA input via built-in gpu. It was later reported that my GPU is fine and it was running from the HDMI and DVI slots of my GPU at the warranty center. When I brought it back home, voila... I got display as if nothing had happened. Then to this day I often have to turn my PC and back on again or plug and replug the HDMI cable when I don't see my display become active.

My GPU is fine because I've had zero problems with it even in intense gaming. I remember when I bought this LED, and I had a different GPU at the time, I got no display from the HDMI I was using but it worked once I used the Viewsonic's HDMI cable. It's a very strange problem. I tried my PC on my 32" Samsung LCD TV today and all cables(three including the viewsonic one) ran without a hitch.

Is it a problem with my display? Should I claim warranty?

Some users are reporting that some monitors will not display unless it is powered on first. In other words, if you turn on your computer first and then your display second, it will not display anything and it refuses to pick up signal. It works if you power your monitor first then your pc second, however I only heard of this existing in displayport users. HDMI is a first for me but I wouldn't be surprised because some monitors are built to require and maintain a continuous signal to enable their sleep mode/ economy power saver. You can try to claim warranty but I believe it just may just do that from same manufacturer. Lastly, try disabling your power save and/or sleep mode. Good luck!

I think you might be correct on that. Because I used to at times power on the PC first and then immediately turn on the display and it used to work.
