So i just got my new PC. It is a Ibuypower Pc with a MSI gtx 760 2gb. IT also has a AMD fx-8320 8-core CPU. I am trying to overclock the GPU to play planetside 2 on ultra settings smoothly. I use MSI afterburner and I slide the GPU overclock to about 150%. I also slide the power limit to the max but for some reason, the max is 115% normal power. Is this because of my 500W PSU or is it because of my graphics card. I have liquid cooling with a ARC high performance cooling fan for heatsink. I also can not change the voltage even if I turn on the option in the options list. I did this overclock once, and then I booted planetside 2 up. It ran stable fr about 30 seconds at 80+ FPS and then it grounded to a halt and my computer crashed.

Solution
150% is a huge OC. This is not a matter of the PSU, but rather one of the GPU being able to operate safely (if at all) at that level. If you are stable at 115%, that is a good OC.

Thank tou but why can I have power limit to only 115+? I Have heard people saying that they have stable overclock at 150% at 120% or 130% power limit. I cant get it that high! Is it because of my PSU?

do you know the max overclock capability of my card or do you think that I should just get SLI?

I don't know what your specific OC limit will be. In reality, no 2 systems are 100% identical so your OC mileage will vary. It is a matter of heat, power, and the variability of components.

There are tools to help unlock the power settings to allow you to increase your power levels. They can be both helpful and harmful.

If you are trying to max out FPS, then a single stronger GPU or SLI is your best bet for long-term stability. You can only OC your current GPU so much.
