Internet randomly disconnects for like 1-30 seconds, then resumes.

Hi there!

First time I've really ever had to complain about my internet, it's because normally it's flawless and smooth and I've never ever had an issue with it whatsoever.

What is happening is, is that when I am doing my normal routine, flickering through path of exile, mumble, and hearthstone I seem to get random disconnections that last (at max) about 30 seconds roughly, then it resumes like normal.

But the problem now is that it's becoming more and more frequent to the point it's almost driving me crazy and I have no idea how to fix it, It seems to happen roughly every hour on the exact same minute in the hour.

Example: 11:30, 12:30.

It's just really odd because I've never ever had a issue with this and all of a sudden it's acting really strange, the random disconnects are going to affect me really huge in the next 4 month league of path of exile (Game) if it's not fixed.

I have a cable modem (Netgear CG3000-1STAUS) It's really odd because this normally doesn't happen and when it does, I just switch off the modem, pull the cables let it sit for a few minutes than i start it again.

I'm not that technical, any help will be appreciated.

Note: There is a firmware update, but if it requires being next to the modem to do that I can't at the moment. it's in my brothers room and it's relatively early and they're asleep so I can't until later but what exactly do firmware updates do to the internet? Does it help any?

Firmware updates are basically updates woth new drivers for your modem. They are usually distributed to fix security leaks or bugs. I recommend you install it and try if your internet works again. Even though you say you use a cable modem, are you sure you are on that connection and not using Wi-Fi?

Positive, The cable that is plugged into my computer is from the modem, so if I take it out, it won't work.
Also, My computer cannot pick up on the wireless signals for some unknown reason, I tried but it doesn't work.
Although the laptop in the lounge does have the wireless connection.

My internet works perfectly it's the random second disconnections that're annoying the shit out of me lol

It's not that I am trying to connect to wireless though, Like, it was perfectly fine literally a couple of days ago, I rang my ISP recently and the guy said the last recorded was on the 25th. which, If i rang again he would say 'it happened on the 28th' since it happened again yesterday.

It's relatively minor, but could cause a lot of damage (just mentally) rather than physically if I continue to leave it unchecked.

I deleted everything (that doesn't need to be there) from Dec 1. 2013 to now, just to be safe that it's not being caused by a program or software on my computer.

I scanned the computer today with malware bytes, and all that popped up was PUP something.. Which has done so in the past and I've removed them but because I used vuze at one point I believe it's coming from there.

A faulty cable could be the cause.
I should try a new cable and see how it goes,
I've done a lot of research and it could be multiple different things, it's only like 1-30 seconds tops and it's only been happening once a day (touch wood) which isn't entirely bad, but it can be a lot worse but I just want some insight into it because I'm at wits end and if it is my modem, It's got warranty so I could get it replaced.

I'm just unsure, I want someone who has the knowledge that knows where exactly it's coming from to come forward and explain it to me, Because at the moment, I'm confused.

i've had this problem recently.. its a virus. try running malwarebytes in safe mode after youve updated it in normal operating mode. then run the scan in safe mode.. let me know how that works for ya =)
