I have just upgraded from one monitor to 3 monitors and running @ 5760x1080 with my current cards Msi 2GB GTX 670 PE OC Sli i noticed its very sluggish when maxed out, it does run smoother when AA switched off but still not perfect. I was told that more VRAM was needed to run higher resolutions. With that being in mind i have decided to upgrade my Graphics to one of the following cards below. I would be appreciated if you give me your views on these cards and which one would be best for 3 monitor set-up with ultra settings. I will be in future going to crossfire/sli as i did with my GTX 670.

Sapphire 4GB R9 290x Tri-X

EVGA 3GB GTX 780 SC ACX

Price is not the issue i want the best card out of these two that would handle the job more easily, or if any other cards in their price range that would cut it.

Thanks

R9 is better at Pixel and high res, GTX 780 will give you better Texel rates. Go for the R9 if within budget for your tri set-up. I would think.

Best regards, Vel.

How are the drivers with amd cards? as ive read in the past they had problems or something to that effect, ive only ever had one amd card which was a HD7870 which was a great card and i never had any issues.

Eh, when I first got my 7970 it had some snags with the drivers on Win 8 here and there, but I waited and in a couple months it worked on all the games I played. So, the increase is worth the slight loss in time of the R9 does have any issues like that, I haven't heard it yet though. Of course, it's always possible with both cards.

Thank for the info, are there any other R9 cards that you would recommend? that would roughly do the same job as the Sapphire R9 290x Tri-X or is this the best of the bunch.
