So just wondering this out of curiosity. It's thought that for future gaming as well as light vide editing/streaming etc. the FX 8350 will likely be better and be cheaper (the mobo aswell) I have read though in some places that the i5 4670k will take the lead when overclocked? So which will be the better CPU when overclocked?

Intel - raw power
AMD - Price/performance
Asking which one is best? Go Intel, all day. Every day. Asking which is best for the price? AMD, all the day. Every day.
Have enough money? Intel. Want a better GPU? AMD.
Hope I helped!

The i5 4670k is better at gaming at stock, and due to its higher IPC also scales better when overclocked, so it will give you a much better benefit from overclocking.

For editing/streaming concurrently, the FX can take the lead.

By the way, this thread is likely to spawn a flame war. Just FYI.

Thanks every body for your help. I would pick the solution but you all helped. I guess I'll go with the 4670k and OC since I won't be video editing or anything. I guess for my second build then I'll go with the 4670k and OC.

im a troll and im proud of it...thief is built upon an AGE OLD 3d engine called UNREAL engine 3...you remember
quake? unreal tournament? rune? Duke nukem forever? etc...these are OLD games...and thief is based on
that same engine with only some tweaks and updates...
look maybe at Battlefield 4 built upon the frostbite engine, or crysis 3 and the all mighty cryengine...those are the new
games and they all run better on 8 thread machines... LINKS :

Yes, and it's a new game. I took it as an example because it's a very recent release, regardless of the engine it's running on.

If we're going to throw around benchmarks.

8350 barely beats a 3550, and a 3570 would top that.

Intel still on top.

Funny how you use the 2 games that utilise multithreading and somehow they're the only 'new' games released in your eyes. I sense a little bit of bias here.

I won't be replying to you, I'm happy to wait for benchmarks of upcoming titles. If multithreading is adopted by most game companies, and outperforms the i5 (unlike above), I'll be happy to recommend the FX. As for now the i5 is the better gaming chip, sorry.
