I have a laptop that I'd like to try CentOS on, but id like to keep my windows OS and I don't want to use a VirtualBox. So I was wondering if I could install CentOS on a new HDD and just swap HDDs when I want to use the other OS? Will it mess anything up?

Thx

You could, but it's a hassle. You could always install two operating systems to its own partition on the same hard drive.

Yes you can do that and would certainly be the best thing to do if you want to maintain both OS's absolutely separate from each other.
