Adjusting the monitors own settings did not work. It's already maxed to the left, and still has the two inches of solid black

You should tell us what screen and what video card you are using.

Sometimes HDMI monitors may need an option called overscan adjusted in the video cards control panel.

If you are running VGA, the auto adjust button on the screen may fix the issue.

DVI should never have these issues.
