Hello all,

So I have been OC'ing my AMD Phenom II x4 965 3.4 Black Edition after I recently purchased and installed a Corsair h80i.

Currently I have my multiplier up to x21 and my cpu voltage at 1.5

My temps peak at 43 celsius when running under full load prime95

Now in my limited experience and research in OC'ing I read or was advised somewhere not to go above 1.7 volts, and even on some forums that max voltage for my specific chip was 1.5???

Now I know that for my specific chip 60celsius is max temp, so if I am peaking at 43 is there any other hazards to going to 1.7 or higher?

Also any general advice for my chip and overclocking in general would be swell, thanks!

If you're talking vCore voltage, AMD sets the safe range from 0.850-1.425V for the 125W version.
Personally, I wouldn't go any higher. Nothing kills a CPU faster than high voltage. Heat too will kill, but not as fast. If you are stable at 4.2GHZ, you have a good processor and a good O/C for the 965BE. I wouldn't chance killing it. But if you want tp push the vCore higher, do it knowing the risk.

So you are saying drop it down to 1.425v and lower my multiplier to whatever is stable at that voltage?
