This may be hard for us to make recommendations on right off the bat. Mainly because we don't know your preferences in software or operating system. Many photographers choose to use Apple because of the old standby adage that "Apple is the best for design" which actually isn't accurate or founded in any sort of proof.

When it comes to photography I'm not an expert with the software, but I know that the Adobe software suite is going to be something you will want to invest in. Photoshop, Lightroom, etc. are going to be your primary tools. You can get this either in Apple or Windows versions. If it were me personally I would get a loaded HP EliteBook laptop. Not only do these offer great quality and warranty support, but can be configured in a wide range of hardware to fit your needs, such as quad-core mobile processors, tons of RAM, solid state drives, and truly dedicated professional graphics. I would recommend a mid to high-end mobile Core i5 or Core i7 processor to give you plenty of capabilities now and into the future, as well as plenty of RAM (minimum 8 GB but recommend 16 GB) plus upgrade to a decent solid state drive to help with loading times and rendering effects, filters, and layers in the newest versions of the Adobe software.

I built a professional photography desktop computer which includes multiple raid 1 configurations to ensure data retention. It is pretty nuts.
