I know that Netgear currently came out with there ac wireless routers and what I was wondering is if I buy a wireless network adapter for my pc now should I make sure it can support ac? I currently live with my aunt and she has an N900 router and than sometime soon im moving back in with my parents and im not sure if I want to get them a N900 or just an ac. No one in either of these households knows or cares about wifi speed. Also witin 2 years I will be moving out on my own hopefully and will than get an ac for myself but my main question is should I just buy an ac wireless adapter now or should I wait till I finally get an ac router? Do you think prices on the adapters and routers themselves will go down in the future because more devices will be available to use them? Also the pc in which I will be putting a wireless adapter card into is not built yet as I am still gathering all the parts needed.

I a going to suspect they will go down. There is a newer version of 802.11ac coming anyway that will double the speed again....of course it uses even more radio channels. Likely a couple of years off. Then again tplink already sells their 802.11ac router for $100

The main difficulty with 802.11ac is it only runs on the 5g band. This band has much more difficulty penetrating walls in houses so coverage tends to not be as good. But on the other side the neighbors signal also has more trouble getting into your house to interfere.

On the speed issue most people could live with 802.11g. I would love to be able to get even a 100m internet but nobody is going to offer me that anytime soon.

The high speed wireless mostly is only used...

The high speed wireless mostly is only used by people streaming video or transferring files from a server within their house.
