I am building my first gaming pc and I am looking for a motherboard. I have gone back and forth between a few as my budget recently increased. I have already ordered the MSI GTX 760 graphics card and am looking at the FX-8350 CPU, so I need something that will fit those components. I am going to have two DVD Drives, one SSD, two HDDs, and most likely 8gb of RAM. I need something that will fit these specs and will allow for upgrades in the future.

I was looking at the ASRock 990FX Extreme9 motherboard. And not necessary, but wifi build into the board would be a plus because I don't have easy access to ethernet.

I have a 8350 in one of my builds and i can recommend the asus sabertooth 990fx as a solid mobo to run the 8350 but i do hear that asrock make some good quality components and usually cheaper than most competition. So im 99% sure this board is fine! But if your going to be gaming scrap the WiFi and use an Ethernet cable because WiFi is useless fore gaming!!

Thanks for the reply. And where I'm located in my house, I won't be able to easily use ethernet. I would have to run a wire up through the floor. Why is wifi useless for gaming?

you can also get a wireless pci or pci-e card. they not too expensive. my friend has the gigabyte ud3, and definatly recommends it. the ud5 has better vrm cooling if you want some bigger overclocks, but the ud3 will support good overclocks too

Latency's and packet loss is the killer for the WiFi your at a major disadvantage compared to other players. I run a cable thru my roof. It takes like half hour to set up with all the proper fittings n such makes it all look good and trust me its 100 times better for gaming!!!

I keep changing my mind about which brand let alone which board to go with. That ASRock 990FX KILLER is price-gouged everywhere I can find it on like bottled water after Hurricane Andrew! Hope Newegg sticks to it's $135 price tag. For some reason I thought that was an older board but it looks like it was just released. Am I correct on that?

Brilliant! I know you tend to favor Asrock and I've read somewhere that they actually might be more reliable than Asus and Gigabyte. It just boggles the mind that they only included 5 Sata ports. I always need at least 6 (too many hard drives, I know) and it's killing me that such a good board only has 5. I'll live with it, I guess. Thanks, Blackbird!
