If I default everything in my BIOS, do I need to mess with the VCore so it's more safe (longer CPU life), or it's already safe at default?

I know it's a stupid question..

yeah the things you want to mess with are multiplier and Vcore/CPU voltage. Also go ahead and turn off any and all power saving features, like low power states, speed step, epu mode, things like that. your best bet is to look up a guide for that model motherboard and or CPU

tweaking will be necessary to find out what works with your setup and what doesn't (it will always vary from system to system)
