Hello,

I had a budget motherboard GA-78LMT-USB3 which only PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot. I thinking of upgrade to EVGA GTX 760.

EVGA tech support said that I will need to update bios for my motherboard in order for the card to work.

the correct version for bios is F4 which is the latest.

how do I determine that I need a bios update?

is this require by all PCI-E 1.0 board or just some PCI-E 2.0 board?

thank

you will be able to tell firstly if the card doesn't work, there is a slight but small chance it will work without updating bios but you most likely will have to since it is a 2.0 slot.

depends on your current card installed, but most likely you will have to update your bios and slight that you may not. If you had the latest then it would be for that current card.

The version that I had is the only version available for the model of my motherboard.

if there a new bios version the model that I had than I will download but F4, which is the version that I had is the latest one for the model I had.

so if I were to use the F4 bios version with GTX 760, will it still work because I don't want to change the board?

you don't have to change the board, but if you have the latest BIOS driver for the board, it should work without updating bios. But you may still have to but that is an easy fix.

from my understanding, you said that I don't have to change the mobo. like I said earlier, I had the latest bios driver for the model that I had and there is no bios update available on the manufacture website.

the part I don't understand, what you do mean b I might had to even after I said that the version that I use is the only available version and it the latest according to the manufacture website.

if I were to guess, you trying to told me that I might need to get a difference model, is that what you mean right when you said, that is an easy fix.

easy fix meaning if you have to update the bios, which isn't hard, that is the easy fix.

ok. since the bios for that model that I own is the only version that available on the manufacture website and it the latest, how can I download a new version without buying a new model of mobo?

you said that I don't need to change the mobo, remember?

sorry to ask to many time, this is my first PCI-E 3.0 card. if I use the 600 series, than I won't ask this many question.

I did contact the manufacture about this model and the tech agent said it will accept the card I am going to use but limited on the performance.

I think I am going to ask that tech again to confirm.
