I have a server with 6 x 1TB HDDs and I want:

1. With the first 4 HDDs to create a RAID 10 config (this will hos the OS, development DBs)

2. With the remaining 2 to create a RAID 1 config.

The OS is CentOS 6.5

Yes, most motherboard BIOS allow a mix of raids.

In your case, your better of with raid-1 for o/s, but using ssd's, don't have to be massive or expensive ones and keep the HDD's for a raid-10 data.
