Anybody know if using full disk encryption on an SSD will cause premature failure of the drive or sections of memory, as I believe most consumer models would not use TRIM.
It will not cause permanent failure, but it is known to cause issues with TRIM. However, many SSDs do have native encryption which will prevent anyone from accessing the data contained within by bypassing the controller. Setting a hard disk password is usually sufficient.
