Just got done putting my pc together last night, everything is running, the CD drive, fans, and everything. But when I try and connect my pc to a monitor, it says it's getting no signal. Tried it with both the motherboard, and gpu. When I turn it on I didn't hear a beep. Does that mean there's a problem somewhere?

Do you have a motherboard speaker connected or does the motherboard have one built in? Without one, you will not hear a POST beep. Also, you can only connect the monitor the the GPU, not the motherboard. Make sure the monitor is set to auto.

I set it to auto, but nothing. I have the motherboard speaker connected. And I've tried connecting the monitor to the GPU as well. But it still tells me it's getting no signal. Tried removing the RAM, putting it in different slots, took everything out and reconnected it. I'm using an ASrock FM2A75M Pro4+ mobo, Gigabyte Radeon R7 260x gpu, and a Corsair CZ430W PSU. I don't know if they have compatibility issues or what.

Everything seems compatible. Run through that list and make sure everything is set up correctly.

Tried using a vga adapter instead of an HDMI cable.

Did that work?

Nope still says checking for signal cable. I probably just messed something up along the way more than likely. I just need the display to work so I can install the OS. Would the HDD not being connected play a factor in any of this? I think it's connected, but this is my first build ever, so I may be wrong. I can post pictures if you'd like.

I actually have to go right now but I will be back in a few hours. I will leave the thread open to see if anyone else can give some insight.

I would go through that list and make sure every component is correctly installed one thing at a time.

Does the system boot up? ie. fans spinning?

Yes, the fan on the case, the cpu, and gpu are all running when I power it up. When I put the cd in to install the os, it spins as well. I have no idea what I could be doing wrong. Made sure everything was in the correct socket. And went through the list you posted.

I've installed the GPU in another desktop and it works perfectly fine. Is the motherboard maybe bad, or is something just maybe not connected properly?

I would guess something is not connected correctly.

I don't know what I did, but the video finally showed up, although it only works with 4GB of RAM installed, and the picture won't show up with 8GB in the 2nd and 4th slots. I've also tried the first and 3rd. But only 1 stick in the third is the only way I got it to give me video.

Often times RAM issues are related to bent CPU pins. are you 100% sure you have no bent pins?

Also, does it work with either stick or just one specific one?

It works with both sticks. But only in the 3rd and fourth slot. Would I have to take the mobo out to check for bent pins, or just get completely new RAM?

To check for bent CPU pins, you must remove the CPU and look at the pins attached to it. This is not a RAM problem.

I just checked it, everything seems to be in order. Would it still fit into the CPU socket if it had any bent pins?

Do the bios have anything to do with having dual channel setup? The computer runs now, but it will only run with 1 stick of RAM.

No, I believe you have bent CPU pins. MANY CPU pins have to do with the memory controller. I have fixed many computer with this same issue and generally speaking the issue is bent CPU pins. If not, you could have a bad motherboard.

The motherboard will automatically set to dual channel. That is not the issue.

Are you 100% positive you have no bent or missing CPU pins?

What would be the best way to check? I saw something about going through it with a credit card.

You should be able to just look and see. Use a magnifying glass. Don't touch any of the pins with anything. If is pin is messed up it will be obviously bent or missing.

Yep there is a bent pin. What should I do with it? Or just send it back?

You have some options. Often times the warranty does not cover a bent pin as it is considered used inflicted damage. You could try to return it and see how it goes.

The other choice is to try and bend it back. How bent is it? Flat or just bent a little. If it is bent any more than halfway down to the CPU itself, you will just break it off trying to bend it back.

Its just a tad bit bent. Nothing major. I guess I can try to bend it back myself.

Alright, be VERY careful. Only use something VERY small and don't bend it much. Only a tiny amount at a time. it will break off easily.

I think I got it. It didn't wiggle at all when I placed it in the motherboard. Now the heatsink is back on top. It should boot up with both sticks now, right?

If that was the issue, it should work fine now.
