What I am wanting to do is add another drive to our server but I didn't know if it was possible to just add it in or would I have to add it to the existing RAID array that is already set up.

Now I know I have to create the volume in disk management but if I can just add in the drive it would make things much easier but the last thing I want to do is screw up the system.

Thanks

yes adding a drive and expanding the array is usually a valid option on server grade raid controllers. I would strongly suggest you only install the drive and test it for a while first before adding it to the array.

and as always, perform a backup, or ensure a valid backup is available should thins go horribly wrong.
Your question depends on how your server is setup and also what you want the extra drive for.
You should talk to your system admin (and if you are it, you need to do a bit of reading on storage management and setup).

You may be better off just adding on a NAS array for more storage if that is what you are looking to expand.
