Laptop won't detect wireless xbox controller

I have a wireless xbox controller that I use for my xbox with a wired charger/usb chord, and when i try to plug it into my laptop, it recognizes that driver software needs to be installed, but isn't recognized/detected any where else. Also, when I try to turn on the controller it just flashes. Anyone know what might be wrong?

Hi,

It's a longshot but I think it's not compatible with a laptop, it's an xbox controller.

You need to buy a pc controller.

No, it definitely works. I know for a fact you can use an xbox controller on a pc.

Hi..The wireless xbox controller will not work because the laptop does not have a reciever for the signal..A wired controller will work
