Hello.
My GTX 480 temperatures are really high:

55-59 C - idle on 70-75% fan,
and when I play more demanding games such as War Thunder my GPU temperature rise up to 105 C (100% fan) and then game and nvidia kernel chrashes.

Is my card broken? Or I need to replace thermal paste? I think fan works correctly.

If I need to change a thermal paste can you help me to choose one and give some tutorial on how to do it? I never change this and i don't want to break my card.

Sorry for my bad english.
Thanks.

Yes i dusted off my card few days ago. Also my card have 2 years.

EDIT: OK, I only dusted off fan. Do I need a special screwdriver to open a card? I know that i need to remove 4 screws on the back of the card. I don't want to broke it, so I'm a little careful.

the GTX 480 was known to be a hot running card but those temps seem outrageous considering your fan speed. If you cleaned the heatsink and its not helping i suggest you tear the card down (just take the heat-sink off but leave the metal plate for the VRAM and regulators on. And repaste the GPU to do this you need isopropyl alcohol. a lint free cloth and new thermal paste of your choice. if the old stuff is dried up (it probably is) use a plastic card (like a credit card) to scrape the old stuff off the GPU and heatsink, then clean the rest using the alcohol and cloth. apply thermal paste as a dot the size of a BB in the middle of the GPU (the GF100 GPU is large) and remount the heatsink. temps should go down now. also while you are in there i would clean off the blower using isopropyl alcohol and a Q tip.
