Need help for optimal settings to achieve 4.4 - 4.5 ghz with i-5 3470k

Hey, fairly new to overclocking and thought I would just post since i haven't been able to find any guides on over clocking with my combination of mobo and cpu.

After checking out some guides I managed to overclock my cpu to a steady 4 ghz (the core multipilier does not allow me to change the value higher then 40 in the Asus bios, and I can't figure out why)

Would anyone be able to help me achieve a stable 4.5 ghz for gaming (and as safe as possible)

My system specs:
Asus P8Z68-V LE motherboard
Intel i-5 3470k with CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO
Asus ENGTX570/2DI/1280MD5
(X2) 4GB XMS Memory module, 1333MHz, 9-9-9-24, 1.5V
Thermaltake 650w power supply

the reason why you can't go above the 40 multiplier is because your motherboard uses a Z68 chipset; Z68 chipsets are for the CPUs that came before the 3xxx.

to be able to go any higher you may either have to raise the base clock which will also raise the speeds of different components such as PCI-E lanes (your video card uses this) OR purchasing a motherboard that uses a Z77 chipset (for intel 3rd gen CPUs).

Also, the i5-3470 isn't an unlocked CPU. To my knowledge, Intel never made an unlocked 3470, only the i5-3570, so you can't change the multiplier. Even if you had a Z77 chipset, you could only change the base clock by a few MHz to get to 4.00 GHz, or roughly the Intel Turbo Boost speed (I think 3.9).

You can't change the multiplier of the non-K SKU Intel chips. You can only change the base clock a few MHz. Even then, you can only get a faster than the turbo boost speed. Intel locks them so they can't be adjusted. The chip can't be adjusted beyond it's "turbo boost" frequency, which I think is what you're seeing with the 3.6 GHz. The B75 chipset is actually pretty full-featured, and does allow for multiplier changes, unlike the H and P chipsets. It's basically the same thing as the Z77, with some minor features missing.

I got the non-K version of your i5-3470 and base speed is 3.2GHz, one core turbo boost to 3.6GHz and all cores to 3.4GHz. On your i5-3470K, when you overclock to 4GHz, does it happen on one core or all 4 cores?
