16 GB at 2x8GB or 4x4GB?

Is there any advantage (except for the option to increase capacity to 32GB) to using 2 sticks of 8GB over 4 sticks of 4GB? I want to use 2x4GB now to save money and upgrade later to 16GB.

Solution
It's been my experience that if you are overclocking the fewer sticks the greater the chances of stability. Otherwise I would assume that if you went 2x4GB now and picked up two later it would be fine but I'd recommend the 2nd set have similar if not matching timings.

OK thanks.

I just read in the FAQ:
"(If) you are using 4 memory modules (instead of 2), which require more power, your system may clock the speed of the modules down to maintain stability."

Does the size of the PSU wattage help here, so a higher PSU wattage will keep the system from clocking the speed down?

For gaming 8Gb of RAM is more than enough. If you still want to upgrade, I heard some MB's don't like it when all RAM spots are used. (though it does sound weird) other than that I don't see any difference.

The quality of the PSU is more important otherwise no it's not going to help you in regards to the memory.

I would go with Corsair, Seasonic or maybe Cooler master.
