hi,

i want to build a pc from the ground up. i have no previous building experience as i have not used a desktop pc for about 7-8 years now. i currently live in romania and play poker as a living, but i do like to play games whenever i have the time for it. my top priority is to have a pc that can run all the poker apps i need and can stream at the same time (i currently play on multiple platforms and have different apps running while playing including skype and as i've seen ppl started moving towards live streaming to share screen for teaching purposes or at least they will in the near future), so gaming comes second though i want to be able to play the latest games plus the ones that will come out in the future. another worthy note is that i would like for it to be as quiet as possible, since being too loud is quite annoying while playing. i currently use 2 27" screens from asus that run on 1920x1080 resolution. they are a bit older, but they do their job so i don't really plan on upgrading them unless necessary.

i've read a few posts/articles here and chose some of its parts, though i can change them if needed. the current budget is around 2500$. i also have a keyboard and mouse so this budget is only for the pc.

ok so the parts i've chosen are as follow:

mobo: gigabyte g1.sniper 5 (i found this on unsealed for almost 100$ off which i think is nice) or gigabyte z87x-oc force. i would rather go with the sniper since it has a good sound card and a killer networking card. couldn't find info on what the z87x-oc force has on it, but since it's built mainly for extreme overcloackers (which i'm a complete begginer in, but will probably start reading into it and do that myself), i find that it's probably better with the sniper. also i plan on upgrading the pc in the future, so i believe a good mobo is necessary. tried to find some asrock ones, but it seems there are few resellers in romania, since most of the guys here recomended those.

cpu: i7-4770k. i would've gone with th's review and get the i5 one, but i feel that because i use many apps, the extra cache on it helps.

gpu: geforce gtx 770. it's a bit of a bummer that almost every gpu comes with only one hdmi port and i use 2 screens. do you think it's a better ideea to get 2 cheaper gpus?

ram: 16gb. i don't know if the brand realy matters, as long as their frequency is 1600mhz (read a reivew and the increase in frequency doesen't help that much). might be wrong though, so i'm open for suggestions.

psu: open for suggestions. figured out that i should buy one with at least 1000w and a 80 plus platinum certification.

hd: i think a 1 or 2tb wd or seagate will do. i'm more inclined towards wd, but seagate is still an option.

ssd: tried to find a reivew here for ssds, but the one i found is a bit old. figured a 120gb is enough. opened to suggestions on brand/model.

case: here i tried to find one on my own but i saw so many of them that i don't know which one is better. i am looking for a mid or full tower with a good air flow (heard that's the thing to look for in a case). design comes second, as i'm not too picky.

your thoughts are much appreciated.

You have a lot of money to work with there ($2500 USD?) so here's a mega gaming machine. You don't need two GPUs, but they will come in handy for anything the future has to offer with regard to gaming:

This is a build that will kick some serious buttocks.

PSU - 1000w is a bit much. 750w / 850w will cover a pair of GTX 780s in SLI. Stick with Antec, Corsair, XFX or Seasonic with Gold or Platinum certification.
GPU - Run a single GPU for now. You can always add a second later.

thanks for your recommendations. unfortunately, i live in romania and i can't find the mobo in any of the stores. i tried to get them from amazon since they ship world wide but they don't ship most of the components (was mostly interested in shipping rates). the problem is that the parts are more expensive if i buy them from my country ( the gpu for eg is close to 700$ if i buy it from the biggest reseller in ro, so usually i can find it a bit cheaper, but no more than 30-40$). i really like the build from uber since i could prolly use that for quite some time without upgrading it, but for 2500$ in here, i think the best i can get is sadams' build (the only exception is the psu where i agree with uber).
so now i have to find a good mobo. did you guys pick this one for it's cost/performance ratio? is the sniper overkill?

That Motherboard is very good performance wise vs price. There are 3 slightly better Z87 Plus, Pro V, Pro and the Deluxe then moving on up to the ROG's and Sabertooth's. The Sniper is a epic board but you'll be wasting a lot of money, better spent on the GPU's.

found the pro V and deluxe. pro v is around 220$, while the deluxe is around 350$ (dual) and 400$ (quad). the thing is i could get the sniper for about 450$(found it unsealed, but they do offer a 3 yr warranty so i think it's fine). would realy want at least a dual mobo, so i can upgrade the gpu without needing to sell the one i buy now.

ps: found every other part and it rounded up to 1600$. so that means i have around 8-900$ for mobo and gpu (i think i should get the 770 since the 780 is close to 700$. there's a 200$ difference in price between them). i will try to find some eu resellers to check up the prices there.

hello

thanks for your friend so far. it really helped me a lot in choosing the parts, but i'm afraid i'm still in need for your help.

i talked to a friend that works at an import company that deals in electronics and asked him to check if he has the things you guys recomended. found most of them, but apparently they don't import seasonic so i chose its counterpart from enermax (it's a bit more expensive from what i've seen). the thing is i need to decide on a case. they only import enermax, deluxe, corsair, cooler master and raid max. from the list he sent me i can see that enermax, deluxe and raid max are dealing with low end cases. from corsair i could only find mid tower cases in the same price range as the phantom. so the only 2 valid choices were the 935 model from the haf series and the SGC-5000W-KWN1 from the cosmos series (both cooler master). any thoughts on them or should i just stick with the phantom? the reason i'm asking this is because i might get a discount from this guy (from what i've seen so far their prices aren't really below the market but it's probably at the bottom). also for ssd he recomended the samsung 840 pro (MZ-7PD128BW) since they don't import intel.
