Hi all!

I'm considering to build my first PC. I'm 16 years old and this is my first build - I've got a quite extended knowledge on computers.

This is the list of parts i've put together:

Cooler Master G650M, 650W PSU
Cooler Master Seidon 240M CPU cooler
cooler master silencio 352 mini tower
corsair SSD Force series GS128GB 2.5"
Crucial DD# BallistiX Sport 16GB Kit (8GBx2)
Intel Core i/-4770K Socket-LGA1150
MSI B85M-E45
Noctua NT-H1 thermal paste
WD Desktop Green 3TB Sata
XFX Radeon HD 7970

If I change out the PSU, will the build be good for using the computer for programming in Eclipse, Visual Studio, game development in Unity 3D, photoshop photo editing, everyday tasks and Mac OS X dualbooting/virtual machine with Hardware Virtualization?

Please go over and check that these parts would fit. Really need to be 110% sure. Quite a bit of cash in it.

Kind regards,
Erik

this build would be good for video editing, 3d modeling, rendering etc. How much are you paying for the 7970? Why not get a R9 280x? Also why the cooler master PSU? you should consider a better brand like Seasonic, XFX, Antec, Corsair or SilverStone.

I don't immediately see a problem. Though I'm surprised you're you're going with a microATX build your first time out. The only thing I would recommend would be to to make sure you have more than enough room. This is because measurements on PC parts aren't always very accurate and you might get burned if you're cutting it real close. That in mind all I checked was system compatibility. I didn't look at your measurements because on a microATX that could make or break your build. I would say don't take anybodies word on that but your own. I like to draw mine out on paper.

About 380$ for the radeon. About 2295 norwegian kr. Going to take a look at other brands tomorrow - need to go now. Perhaps continiue tomorrow?

Thanks!

Which PSU should I get? Keep in mind that this price is very close to my budget limit, not much can be added. How can I be sure that the parts will fit in the case? A bigger board means a bigger case and those two mean a bigger price.

I'm planning to use the computer for programming in Eclipse, Visual Studio, game development in Unity 3D, photoshop photo editing, everyday tasks and Mac OS X dualbooting/virtual machine with Hardware Virtualization

If I'll get the H87, I will need a bigger case. I can't afford that nor the z87 board. How much of a difference will it be?

How can I be sure that it fits? If the board supports microATX and the case as well - why should there be a problem? Could I for instance email Cooler Master and ask? I need to be sure that the parts will fit. Btw, how much work is it to mount the water cooler? How does it work?

You can go with a cheaper option on the GPU, since the 7970 is overpriced right now. You can get a GTX 770 and get more performance for less money. With that, you could get a Z87 board. Otherwise, just get the 4770 non-k version.

And that case has PLENTY of room for any GPU you could buy, except maybe the 7990, so no worries there :)

There's a 18% discount on the 7970 here, so it's cheaper than the GTX 770. However the Z87 it really expensive here.
