My first post here, and I'm not a native English speaker so bear with me.

So about a week ago my mouse and keyboard started acting weird. I was casually surfing the web when suddenly they both stopped working. The computer itself still worked, but I couldn't use my mouse or keyboard. Tried plugging them off and back on again, no difference. What I found out though was that the lights on my mouse kept blinking, but still didn't work. After I had plugged the off and back on several times and in several different usbports, I reseted the computer from the powerbutton. When the computer restarted, both mouse and keyboard worked again.

This has kept on happening since then, sometimes my mouse and keyboard work for many hours, and then stop working, sometimes they only work for some 20minutes. I've tried to find answers from the intarwebzz, but haven't really find anything which helps. Tried reinstalling the windows, didn't help.

My mouse is about 1month old Logitech G500s and my keyboard is pretty old Logitech G11, but I don't think it's about them.

Could it be about the motherboard? or the power? My motherboard is asus P8Z77-V-LK Intel Z77 LGA 1155 (don't know how much of the name is "the actual" motherboard) and its roughly 1,5yrs old. Still got the receipt and guarantee, so I can get new if I want, but I'd rather solve this issue without all that hassle if possible. My power is pretty old (got it from a friend) Corsair HX520W.

I don't know that much about computers, little something something, but not much. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

edit: Im running windows7 x64

Did this, curious though, what does this help? And why haven't I needed it before? My keyboard and mouse worked fine since now.

edit: didn't help, still keyboard and mouse shutting down

it was just an odd thought, the power modes will sometimes do things to save power, like cutting power to the USB devices possibly. high performance mode simply ensures everything is running at its peak, regardless of power draw.

If you use USB wireless internet connection, in case of heavy data transfer (uploading & downloading), USB bus is geting overloaded and your USB mouse and keyboard stop responding randomly. If you UNPLUG USB WIRELESS and switch to wired connection, as I did, and if your hardware is OK, you will solve the problem.

I have this same issue can't figure it out, but when it happens instead of restarting the computer I can update my usb controllers or roll them back and they will all of a sudden start working. also the usb ports on the case will work fine.
