Hi, I recently bought a GTX 770, Every game I've played has been fine, no crashing or anything.
I'd play BF4 Max settings no problem, no PC crashing or anything.

Recently, after playing a game, about 5 minutes after my PC decided to randomly crash.
No problem, got on just fine and everything was good, didn't see the problem again for the rest
of the week. Then I started playing the new thief, the first day I played it everything was fine, when
I woke up the next day, I played the game for about an hour and a half, then everything goes black, PC restarts, fails to boot up, I turn off the PC manually, then I lose all signal to the Graphics card, after a few resets it finally works, Then it happened again, so I used my on-board video card to see if my GPU was getting detected at all, it wasn't. I restarted and there my GPU was detected again. I was reaching as high as 79c on my GPU while playing thief, the only game that really brought it that high, everywhere I look at temps people say 79c is normal, so it wouldn't be overheating right? I'm pretty sure it's either the GPU itself or my PSU, specs below.
Also keep in mind that my drivers are updated.

GPU: PNY GTX 770 4GB
CPU: i5 3570k 3.4GHZ
8GB of Ram
600w Silencer mkiii PSU

I searched around and the people that had this problem was either the PSU or GPU. Hopefully one you guys have an idea, Thanks.

Solution
Had this too, was a driver issue.

- Remove everything nvidia related from your pc.
- Restart pc
- Download the latest drivers of the nvidia website without using Geforce experience
- Download Geforce experience

Hope this helps

Just a quick question, have you completely uninstalled the GPU, re-enabled the onboard graphics and seen if it crashes then? If it doesn't, I'd try and re-install the GPU and drivers and see if it starts crashing again. The GPU could be overheated at 79c, although you're right that 79c is normal for pushed settings, but it may have gotten hotter without you realizing it, maybe during the summer. Another thing is that if the screen ever gets pixelated or you see lines going through the image before it crashes or it shows greenish dots before it crashes, I had that happen and the GFX overheated, but not saying something else may have caused it.

As for the CPU, I know i5's shouldn't be anywhere near 79c. I think around 50c is ideal for pushed settings, so you might want to see what it's getting at if you can.

Hi, my i5 doesn't go over 50c. As for GPU, It seemed stable at 79c, I haven't uninstalled it yet, the GPU never crashes unless it's Thief so far, one time before it but sense then it's been fine, I think I may try to make a custom fan curve to make sure it doesn't go over 75cish, the screen never got pixelated or anything above those lines, I set my pc to full power from balanced, it hasn't crashed yet but I haven't really been playing thief, think I'll play tonight for a few hours and see what happens.
