So I have an 800 dollar budget to get a new laptop/desktop, and I would like it to be able to play games on medium-high settings. Could I have a build for both a laptop and a desktop that would fit my budget? thanks a bunch.

The desktop would be MUCH better overall. You'll get high/Ultra with it.

I agree with HiTechObsessed with the desktop build being a lot better than any gaming laptop.

That said, for $800 I think the best gaming laptop out there is the Lenovo y410p, which can be found here: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/y-series/y410p/
