What is the best option for me, SLI or Upgrade?

Hello,

I've been trying to decide for weeks on what to do for my system and try to save the most money.
Right now I have a single EVGA GTX 660Ti SuperClocked 3GB, and it's a great card and not even a year old.

I've been wanting to upgrade for quite some time now and can not decide on whether to SLI my 660Ti, switch to a GTX 770, or completely switch to a R9 280x. The reason why I have the R9 280x as an option is because it works well with my FX-8350 (so I've been told).

Going with getting another 660Ti would save me an extra $200, but would 2 GTX 660Ti SC 3GB come close to comparing to a GTX 770 or R9 280x?

Thank you

I'd say, keep what you have. An upgrade to a 770 would be a upgrade, but very small and not worth the money. A switch to 280x is again, small performance at $300, def not worth it. I'd even recommend not going sli, some games don't support it, it will generate a lot of extra heat and fan noise, and you might even have to upgrade your power supply to offer power/power connectors to be able to run sli.

As for what card works with your 8350, I have that same cpu and I have the evga 770 superclocked and I love it. Theres like no difference between which intel/amd and gtx/amd.

Your card should be playing games at high without problems now, so I recommend you pocket the money and save up, wait a year or two when your card no longer plays...

The two would likely be as fast, if not faster than the 770. But in games that are not SLI enabled, or do not have a great profile for SLI, you'll still get the performance of a single 660 Ti. I'd go with the 770, very strong solo card.

Thank you! I really appreciate your feedback.

Now that I think about it it does make sense to just stick with the card I have now and save up for the future. And like you said I can pretty much already max out settings on just about every game I play now, guess I just need to hear it from another person :p

Thanks again.

no problem, was in same boat myself, just got GTX 770 like 3 months ago but about a month ago I was looking to upgrade to 780ti. Someone posted something similar to what I said to you, then I replied with something close to what you replied with. vicious circle.
