Good evening, I should actually be sleeping right now but..

I own a XFX pro series 850w. bronze certified at 85%. So far I've liked the PSU as it's very stable with my r9 290 and I wan't to add a second gpu later on.

However this thing makes A LOT of noise when i put more load on it. Basicly launching an game as of today will make the fan inside it go crazy. It's rated for 105c so I'm not sure why it's so loud.

I know that the PSU is making the noise as I've checked the fans in the rest of the system and they never make noise. My h80i is locked at 1200rpm and my r9 290 has a profile that changes based on gpu temps, but I can barely hear it.

So what should i do when my PSU is so loud? Try to get a new one or is thing supposted to be loud?

Specs:

FX-8350 @4.8Ghz @1.45 V
GA-990FXA-UD3
Corsair vengeance 8GB CL9 1600Mhz
Corsair H80i @1200 rpm
R9 290 windforce
XFX ProSeries P1-850X-XXB9 850w¨
Design define R4

Any help is appreciated as always!!

The fan is 135mm and taking in cold air from outside the case, so it can't be affected by the rest of the system. I can try to check if the fan is dirty or not. However i did buy this PSU as of recently.

If you think the fan is not broken you could try padding the PSU, some rubber washers? Or sound matting in the case. The PSU will spool up when it gets hot. There might be a fault with the fan. Or get a quieter one.
