I built it today. I wasn't wearing anything antistatic, but I frequently grounded myself on an old motherboard tray. I've built a computer before successfully, so I have a good idea as to what I'm doing. Turns on and all of the fans run, everything lights up and seems to be running fine, but I'm not getting any display. I've tried 2 different cables with different connections and no luck. I installed my old hard drive with win 7 on it, and also another hard drive with Linux. Help me out. I've already tried uninstalling the ram and gpu and reinstalling them. no luck. I have also tried manually resetting the bios. no luck. The only thing that is possible damaging was I had to push fairly hard on the mobo to psu plug to get it in. I tried to hold the back of the mobo so it wouldn't flex too much, however.

Solution
Your CPU and RAM are both supported. So the BIOS should be good.
You made sure everything is/has power?
Did you fit the CPU correctly? Bent pins might be the cause.
CPU's power installed?
If you borrow a buddies RAM or GPU test them out.
Is the Motherboard rasied off the back of the case i.e. not shorting out?

Other then that if the problem persists and the CPU is fine, then you either have a faulty motherboard or RAM. If you can swap the motherboard for a new one from the seller try that. If it persists after that swap out the RAM for new and the PSU.

And if that all fails something is not compatible. Try different spec stuff.

I'd also like to mention that I have tested both of my RAM sticks individually, and that my GPU should be working, as I JUST pulled it out of a working system about 10 minutes prior to my build

I've had this same problem with one of my builds. Notoriously difficult to diagnose.
With no beeps the computer is not even reaching the BIOS stage. Something is holding it back.
Check:
The harddrive is working (spinning)
BIOS battery voltage should be 3.0v+
Clear the BIOS a number of time 3x often works
All your components are compatible.
Everything is seated properly/clean/ plugged in
If you have spare parts swap them out see if that works
Check for any damage to the motherboard, capacitors?

If that fails
Test the PSU voltages (my problem was this) <common
Breadboard the motherboard one component at a time check for any beeps bad components etc

If that fails
Try leaving power unplugged over night 24hr

If that fails:
Either the motherboard or cpu may be damaged. Motherboards often get damaged through shipping

Thanks a bunch! I'll give all of that a try asap.

One more thing. How can I test the PSU? Does it require that I have some sort of PSU specific tester?

No all you will need is a multimeter and a piece of wire (I recommend insulated for safety) type in google 'Test PC power supply voltage'. Be very very very careful, and follow the instructions.

Try the other things first....

The hard drive is spinning,
the battery is 3v
I've cleared the BIOS 4 times
I know for a fact that the ram and cpu are compatible, and fairly certain that the gpu is too (it is an SLI motherboard)
motherboard looks fine
I don't have any spare parts
everything has been checked and reseated
I tested the mobo with only the cpu and ram, and the cpu and gpu connected, and I haven't heard any beeps.
I take it I should begin the PSU testing?

^ Check if your PSU can run all your components first?
You've checked that everything is in the right slots RAM in Slot 1 , GPU in PCI-E 1 extra motherboard power etc?
Check the GPU compatibility.
Can you borrow spares from friends other computer?

Generally it'll be either RAM, PSU Motherboard, CPU

I have run the 470 off another motherboard. I haven't tested any other gpus on the mobo. I haven't tried to install drivers, as I don't have a cd drive on the computer with the display issue, and haven't even thought of it since I'm not even getting display. Should I?

If you can use another GPU or the motherboard to get the display working, then install the drivers for the 470 then switch cards. However if there is no display this won't work.
Drivers may be the cause. Or compatibility.

Zotac website:
Power on/off button responded, power LED light up, but cannot establish a valid display screen

Possible reasons:
i) Power Supply Unit in the PC system is faulty, or not meeting the specification of that hardware configuration
ii) The +12V DC cable from the Power Supply Unit is not plugged to the motherboard
iii) Display card is faulty, or not installed properly, or not configured in CMOS (long beep followed by two short beep sound)
iv) RAM modules not installed properly, or RAM compatibility issue (long beep sound repeatedly)
v) System conflict due to faulty components or poorly attached modules in the system, e.g., harddisk drive cable loose or expansion card not installed properly
vi) CPU may not be supported on the motherboard

Check:
i) Check the Power Supply Unit for proper function and specification rating
ii) Check the +12V DC cable, make sure it is plugged properly at the motherboard
iii) Check the display card for proper installation, or the CMOS setting (Clear CMOS by jumper, then load CMOS Default)
iv) Check for properly installed RAM modules, or change to some other type of RAM modules
v) Check for faulty components or poorly installed modules in the system, by removing temporally from system
vi) Check for supported CPU type, and upgrade to newer BIOS if necessary

I may need to upgrade the BIOS to be compatible with Vishera CPUs such as mine. Can this be done as is?

I tried a new power supply. It still didn't work. The motherboard's not shorting, and the cpu installed like a champ, so I don't think there was any issue with it. I'm thinking it must be the motherboard. Thanks.
