Hello everybody! I just stumble on an old PC with this CPU and I found out that it is an AMD Phenom II X3 710 2.6GHZ. My question is: Can I overclock this cpu if I'll pair it with Gigabyte GA 990 FXA-UD3 rev. 4.0 motherboard?

Solution
Not many motherboards allow unlocking the 4th core, but it should be in the BIOS settings, on my old motherboard, the bios had a special software just for unlocking cores, but it really depends on the BIOS, if you can find something related to CPU Configuration, you should be able to see something about unlock the 4th core, if not, then your motherboard does not support it.

OK thanks simon12, I'll just use this cpu temporarily and will buy a FX 8350 this summer when I get some money. I read some articles about this cpu and it was manufactured on 2008 and it was compatible with AM2+ socket motherboard during that time. I went to AMD website and searched some compatible motherboard at present and I choose to buy this board GA 990FXA-UD3 rev. 4.0. This cpu is triple core but there is bios tweaking that can unlock the 4th core. Any ideas on how to unlock the 4th core?
