Hi Guys and Gals..

So i have a HP Envy m6-1232sa

i dropped it the other day, All the colors on the screen are off (different colors etc)
Also it wont load windows and seems to not be picking up the hard drive.

i tried installing windows and it says

"a media driver is missing that your computer needs, this could be a DVD..... etc"

I have also tried another hard drive in there and still the same error.

what is the problem here and how can i fix it?
thanks in advance
:).

Unless you installed an SSD cache drive you should be in AHCI mode on your sata ports in the bios. Please verify that you are. Win8 Should not need any drivers to 'see' the hdd in that to install to.

After you get it installed you can install the remaining drivers from Hp's site

Have you tried the built in HP diagnostics? I believe its accessed by pressing f11 during the powerup routine.

I cannot find an option for the sata ports :/ dont see why it would have changed though, it was working fine before i dropped it.

yes f11 opens system recovery i tried resetting the pc to factory settings, it picked up the operating system.
But then i get another error on that

"unable to reset your pc. a required drive partition is missing"

oops i accidentally clicked the button as solved :/

and no it appears it doesnt show up in the bios as i can't see it anywhere :/

If it doesn't show up in the bios then its most likely dead. Its not a sure thing but almost always if a drive doesn't show up in the bios its dead. I'd double check with diagnostic tools. If HP has one use that, if not check your drive manufacturer and have a go with that one.
