Laptop recovery questions

Hi,

I ordered an acer laptop and just got it. It's fine and all but it doesn't come with an OS disc. So I'm wondering if the HD fails how will I replace my OS? I have no software product key or anything.

Next question do you recommend acer erecovery or windows recovery tools (repair, reinstall etc.) The laptop doesn't seem to have a f8 button for advanced boot options.

is it windows 8?

if yes then the os product key is embedded in the bios (you need to use a tool to figure out what it is)

honestly this is a big issue when it comes to needing a reinstall as you cannot even get the download for the win8 iso without a product key.

as far as recovery options... i've always used windows recovery. i cannot state one way or the other on acer recovery as i've never used that software (i have an asus laptop)
