Can I fit a water cooling radiator?

How does one know if a case can fit a radiator or not? While browsing cases I noticed some specifically said they could fit radiators of a certain size while some didn't specify but looked like they had space for one. Does someone have any advice for picking cases/radiators/AIOs?

Solution

One H40 can be installed for CPU cooling on exhaust position in the back. One H40 can be installed on the bottom front side using G10 bracket on GPU.
Which rad for which case. It totally depends upon the case. Mostly Full tower cases have full support for rads while the mid tower cases have limited support for the rads. There are no as such hard and fast rules concerning this general issue.

More specific and accurate answer can be given if Case and Rad info is provided.

Good Luck,

If you plan to go the all in one route, try to get a case that will fit a 2 x 120(120x240) or 2 x 140(140 x 280) radiator because they cool better than the single 120mm units do.

If you are going custom you can use more than one radiator to give tons of cooling potential(some case modding may be needed).

As the above user says, every case is a bit different.

You want to also ensure you have room for the rad and fan or fans(it tends to get thick with push-pull fans). Custom loops can also use very thick radiators so this must be taken into consideration.

When in a pinch, you can always mod a case to take parts you want to use :)

I am thinking about an NZXT Case like the H230 or the H440 or maybe one of the Phantoms. I know the H440 could fit two radiators for the GPU (G10 bracket) and the CPU. I would like to go as cost-efficient as I can. Could a Kraken X40 fit into a H230? I don't feel confident with building my own cooling system so I'm opting for AIO readybuilts.

Could I have two x40s in the H230? One for my GPU, one for the CPU? Two in the front? One in the front/bottom?

You are in for some great gpu temps with that bracket :)

I did this before the bracket, but yeah good drop in temperatures(and even more once I filed down the stock vrm/ram plate so my water block sits on the gpu without needing a shim).

Yes that us an old cpu cooler on the vrm plate and my case does NOT come with a hole for that fan/rad. Warranty void :)

A computer used for watching videos(think of it as a TV computer to replace dvd players/bluray players and game consoles) and pvr duty(also my networks storage system). The system parts are chosen for small size and low power operation.

2.5 inch drives(bottom) help save lots of space and power.

Anyway, I do not want to thread jack any more....
