Hey everyone, my first post here. I've come here over the past year or 2 after my first pc build bit never posted on here before, but I need help...baaadddddd. The girlfriend just bought me a zalman resorator 3 cooler. I needed it because my cPU would get all worked up while playing higher intensity games. Anyways install went smooth no problems at all only thing I touched was my rear case fan (removed to put the resorator) and the heat sink fan. Then installed the amd chip adapter and then the rear plate. All went fine. Before closing everything up I started it to test everything. It beeps all fans go on including the new cooler. Except nothing on the monitor. I'm using an hdmi to my tv but never had any issues. What makes me think it's nothing to do with that is because I can't turn the pc off.... The power button turns it on but won't turn it off. I have to hit the rear switch to kill it. So I guess I'm not even sure if the pc is running maybe the fans only? Makes no sense though the button turns it on but not off and then no display on the screen. I've tried for hours with no luck. I unplugged everything and rewired it all and still nothing..
I'm running an amd fx-6300, nvidia gtx-550 ti, and a gigabyte mobo. Not sure on the power supply I can check if needed.

Solution
Yeah that is very odd. Maybe you bent something somewhere? Check the power supply too, I can't imagine that something like a PSU would be too much for it, but you never know.

Thanks for the reply. That's a good guess. I'm rlly not good when it comes to the back plate. It took me a while to install this one the directions weren't too good. I removed the one I had and installed the one that came with the cooler. I believe the only thing touching the board is plastic. The new plate was like 3 parts and kind of confusing but like I said I'm pretty sure it's the plastic piece touching. But now that you bought that up I guess I could just use my old one? It shouldn't make a difference. It's just odd because if I'm correct and there's a short then the only thing turning on are the fans? I get the hdd light though. Also it's odd I can't turn it off. The button turns on but not off

The only thing I can think with the psu is if it didn't have enough juice but there's no way I only have 3 fans and I had 4 but replaced one with he cooler. I'll see if maybe I tightened the screws too much and I'll replace the new backplate with the old one and see if that helps.
