I have a Dell Vostro 1520 and would like to get a new SSD and get all the apps and data transferred to the new SSD.

What would be the BEST procedure to accomplish this task?

Any caveots? What will I need other than the old PC and the new SSD?

Any comments on the best SSD to get, prefferably about 250+GB?

I have checked several sources and CLONING the existing HDD and putting that on the new SSD is NOT a good idea.

PINHEDD said "I would advise against cloning to an SSD because as you said, it's not at all optimized. Windows will most likely treat it like a platter drive." in this forum. Several others concur with that opinion.

So far, as I see it, I'll just have to"bite the bullet" and reinstall all the APPS. I will use WIN7 Easy Transfer to get all the data and such copied to the new PC--we use Easy transfer here where I work when we refresh a user to a new PC to get their DATA and Outlook settings (.NK2 file and others) copied to the new PC as well when a user has issues with their PC and we need to reimage the OS.

I'll keep searching and watch the replies though in case something new comes up.

THANKS in Advance to anyone replying to my question.
